Edwin was the middle child of his family, his sister, Amelia being the oldest and his brother, Edgar, being the youngest. They were raised as a close knit family, and if you were to ask Edwin who his best friends in the world were, he would say besides his wife it was his brother and sister. It was hardly a surprise when all three of the Bone's siblings joined the Order of the Phoenix at once, all of them wanting to save the World, and do it together.

While his sister went to work for the Ministry hoping to help things change from the inside, his brother and him joined the Ballycastle Bats as Beaters but still worked in the Order in their off time. Both him and his brother married their Hogwart sweethearts, but while Edwin was interested in enjoying his career and time with his new wife, his brother was already starting a family. At the time it seemed that the Bones family was invicible, and then suddenly that came to a grinding halt. One night Edwin and his wife were having dinner at Edgar's house with his family when a group of Death Eaters arrived. Edwin was just able to get his wife out of the conflict, but Edgar was not so lucky. Edgar watched his family killed before his eyes and in an act of rage went after the group of Death Eaters, Edwin went after him to try and keep him from certain suicide. Edgar was killed in front of Edwin, and at the same time he was hit in the shoulder ruining the tendons there and ending his career as a beater; yet to him it didn't matter as the loss of his brother meant more. Edwin barely made it out alive, and from that moment on his outlook on life changed, the loss of his brother and his young family taking a part of him as well.

After the death of his brother, Edwin closed up a little, and due to the injury he had received in the war he couldn't play quidditch; things seemed a little darker after Edgar died. With the money he had managed to save he started up Quality Quidditch Supplies in Diagon Alley, and in his spare time he started making brooms in his workshop.

It took him quite a few years for him to let himself have a child, but as they say 'these things happen', and he found out that his wife was pregnant. It was something he had to come to terms with, and after a long conversation with his sister, Amelia ("Someone in the family has to have children, because I'm fairly sure I'm not.") Edwin embrassed the pregnancy and when his daughter, Susan was born he thought the sun rose and set on her. She was the strength that kept Edwin fighting the good fight, it was his want that his daughter be able to live a life without fear.

After the war ended, he was happy just going back to working on brooms and selling Quidditch equipment while enjoying his time with his family. He became quite busy with the shop, and when he wasn't spending time with this family he was in his workshop trying to make a better broom. It was in early 2000, when he finally had a breakthrough. Edwin made the first prototype of the broom that would become known as the Firebolt. He was about to have it marketed when it was stolen from his workshop, by one of his employees that turned around and sold it as his idea. While this angered, Edwin, it has also made him quite determined to make a broom better than the Firebolt.

With the war looming again, Edwin feels strongly about shielding his daughter from it. It was really brought home for him when his sister, Amelia was killed by a group of Death Eaters outside of the Ministry of Magic. He is again very active in the Order of the Phoenix, and wants to make a difference.

Personality

Depending on the person you ask, you would get a different answer about what Edwin Bones is like. Stand-offish. Athletic. Gregarious. Dry witted. Quiet. Funny. Serious. The things is, it really depends on who you are around in the way that Edwin acts.

When it comes to business he is shrewd, but fair. He looks for the proper way to make his business run effeciently, while still taking care of his employees. He is quite gregarious and fun around those that he is very comfortable with, while those he is not he seems very stand-offish if not cold. He hates to be told how someone feels badly that the injury he sustained in the war prevented him from continuing his career as a Beater on the Ballycastle Bats.

He also becomes very withdrawn if the loss of either one of his siblings is brought up, it is a subject that is very raw for him. When he is alone he mourns their loss quite heavily. Edwin feels that family is the most important thing, and protecting them is now his top priority. Though Edwin is a member of the Order of the Phoenix, it is his opinion that the only life that should be at risk is his own, and not that of any of his family members. He serves in the Order as asked, but he wants very much to shield the rest of his family from the perils of war. He is quite close to both his wife, and his daughter, Susan, who his is extremely proud of.

Edwin has become quite satisfied with his work. It is relaxing for him to try and make a faster, better broom, and has been quite sucessful in doing so. He can often be found in his workshop under times of stress. When he is working on a project it helps him unwind.
